Fire Defense Systems Inc. along with Environmental & Fire Technologies, and ATK Space systems have combined to create this multi-purpose fire apparatus. Utilizing technology from a Hovercraft Delivery System, Positive Pressure Ventilation and Polymer Gels the AFSU can lay a fire line, protect property, or vent a structure all while saving water and reducing environmental impact.
Using the Dispersal Fan and Fire Suppression Gels crews can lay down a fire line or extinguish brush fires without having to tear up the vegetation thus preventing erosion and enabling the local vegetation to reestablish at a faster rate. The Gels allow you to use up to 50% less water and work up to 60% faster than Class A Foam or Water alone, helping to conserve the precious resources of water and manpower.
Utilizing the Dispersal Fan or Booster Hose Line structures, vehicles and landscapes can be coated with the Gel to protect them from nearby or approaching fires, eliminating thousands of dollars in property damage. The Fan can pump the Atomized Gel into a properly ventilated building, the high volume and speed of the air causes the gel to swirl throughout the structure, it will cling to any vertical surface, extinguishing open flames, venting smoke and lowering the interior temperature all at the same time. Reducing the time needed to be spent in structures that may be unsafe.
The AFSU can draw water from ponds or other waterways for be towed behind a tender allowing it to cover large areas. It can dispense between1000 and 6500 gallons of mixed Fire Gel or be utilized with just plain water. The unit can be positioned at any opening of a structure and using just the fan Ventilate a structure of Smoke, Heat, or Fumes to make areas safer to enter without having to wear breathing apparatus. In hot areas it can be set up to broadcast a fine cooling mist of water over a very large area thus providing a cooling station.
